Thanks to the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation prevention project Reclink Australia has established community football teams in Central Victoria and Gippsland, as a model of engagement that breaks the cycles of disadvantage and, working with Gambler’s Help regional agencies, break the pathways to high-risk behaviours, such as gambling and other co-morbidities. A 2016 La Trobe University study found that people who participated in Reclink's football program experienced an improvement in mental health and a decrease in suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
